Who are the leaders of Space Exploration

Moving on with exploration topic: I decided to look into who where the leaders of space exploration and what nations where capable of venturing into space: I also felt that it would be beneficial looking into how much each nation spends on space programmes. 

Looking into how much is spent on space exploration and research: 

That really depends on how "leading country in space research" is defined. If it is in terms of budgetary expense, then here is a list of the money being spent on Space research:
